PLEASE DON’T SAY THAT

          TERRIBLE NUMBER

(Or Today I am sixty-ten)

Oh please don’t say that terrible number

That hurts my ears like a clap of thunder.

It’s the one that comes after sixty-nine,

That beats my brain waves to a flat line.

It’s not hard counting sixty-one, sixty-two,

Sixty-three, and four steps up on cue.

Sixty-five, sixty-six, sixty-seven and eight,

Are just like totting a heavy weight.

So don't you laugh at what I figured out.

It’s not against the la of that there's no doubt.

Just think of it as a rare form of counting,

That keeps my age from rapidly mounting.

And prevents me from saying that terrible number,

That hurts my ears like a clap of thunder.

I count sixty-ten, sixty-eleven, and so,

I'll never have to reach that seventy plus OH!!

Oh no, no, NO

Lately I've been contemplating my age...Oh well, I can't stop time - unless it is my time. I've heard age is a state of mind, enough of my ramblings. I really enjoyed your work, gives you alot to think about and it's well written. Best wishes!
