Bankers and Traders in ivory towers. They all know what they've done.

What You Have Done

Who's going to know what you have done?

Do you remember where you went that night?

The arrows in your head keep pointing to you

Each evening when you close your office door.

Can you shake the noise of your thoughts

After the numbers in your cold heart subside?

Whispers you hear loudly call you to that place

They devised a plan to work the halls of shame.

Your kids love you when you walk to the door

You smile nakedly toward the swan in the lawn

Brahms plays and dinner waits on the table

Your pastor's wife sits in your place at the head.

No it's not an angel in the corner at the ceiling

Could it be a demon holding a smile in her hand?

You have it all under control with Capital Hill

With little concern you watch the game downstairs.

You wake in the middle of the night walking outside

To the sound of the wind singing in the trees

A little movement catches your eye in the bush

That snake is back and watching the apple in your hand.

The Feds have you covered and you are in control

You glance at the moon full and glowing red as blood

Noon is lunch at the yacht club without your phone

No one can hear as you watch waves against the shore

Looking up the sky ripples and the ground moves

Your feet are rock solid as the clubhouse folds to paper

You are in control and the Feds have you covered

You smile broadly as the world falls at your feet.

Who's going to know what you have done?

You can remember where you went that night

They were right all along without anyone knowing

The Feds had you covered and you are still in control!

Very provocative write. Your verses are strewn with clues without being overly vague or verbally condescending. I shall be following... M.True

A most apt, sobering, and timely message, Dayvid. Corruption is rampant throughout the world, it seems. Love, peace, and Happy New Year to you,

I'm immediately reminded of the Phil Collins song, "In the Air Tonight." I'm also thinking about how Andrew Carnegie changed in the end and became the first great benefactor while others like John D. Rockefeller, didn't.

We know what they did, but they were too big to fail so the Feds have their back. Great satire of the very real scenario. They need to be prosecuted, each and every one.

This write brings many things to light. Ah, but they will be divided and judged on day just like everyone else for what they have done.

Love ya!

Ponzi scheme lights the way to the prison chapel where Bernie Madoff and those evil types commit fraud upon the masses, money launderers and Wall Street manipulators that breed like rabbits fed greed pellets...black religion and politics is the new Ivory. Conscience kills and poetry outs it...Stout Mennonite Dark Lager is the new buzz...

There is such conviction and deliberate truths within each line.
You pose a very good question "Whose going to Know what you have done?'
Hah, but there is a higher power that will!
Excellent poetry!
Peace love and light
Amber
