 Banshee

They say she is a bit crazy
Many a souls she has killed
Now her sins have caught up
Dyeing her in the blood she’s spilled

Her blood shot eyes scream danger
As they show everything but regret
And that twisted broken smile
Shines at you like a threat

As if challenging you
To make her see sense
Daring you to break the walls
that she’s built for her defence

She just sits on her porch
taking ownership of her crimes
And only the few at night can hear
That song she sings at times

that goes like,
A shot to kill the pain
A pill to rid the shame
A cut to break the vein
A purge to end the blame

A smoke to ease the guilt
A drug to cure the wilt
A knife to make a slit
to atone for the blood spilt

And it continues on repeat
Till her very throat goes hoarse
They say that it’s her way
of showing a bit of remorse

Not one has witnessed her tears
But the darkness has seen her break
The people have only heard her cries
but no one says it for her sake

They all fear her independence
Yet respect the way she built her life
because they have seen her carve
Out her place with a butter knife

So as they put their kids to sleep
They tell them stories of times long gone
and then they wait with eager ears
To listen to the banshees song

That goes like
A shot to kill the pain
A pill to rid the shame
A cut to break the vein
A purge to end the blame

A smoke to ease the guilt
A drug to cure the wilt
A knife to make a slit
To atone for the blood spilt

This is quite the character that you have introduced to your readers through your verses, TeeJay. Well done! Love and peace to you,

Stories like this certainly will scare the kiddies a bit. I've known a few real-life banshees and there a b*t*h to deal with! ;-)

Do What Matters Most by William Cottringer

This book summarizes life's ten toughest tests with ten passwords each to pass these tests. The current overload, speed of change and chaos are all summarized well enough to get to the Land of Simple on the other side quicker than usual.
