Contemplating every single decision

Mirrors of truth reflecting back

Witnessing two ego’s collision

Imprisoned words behind sealed lips

Screaming minds deaf to noise

The inside burns with flames anew

The outside manages to retain poise

Hand in hand these souls twirl

To muffled music, they often hear

Best foot forward, change step

Emotions and feelings disappear

He never bargained for this

She never had a choice

Speech a foreign concept for him

She willingly gave up her voice

Now their footsteps echo off the wall

As they play a game of chance

Stubborn exterior with melting pride
