Words Won't Heal These Wounds Today

A world of white and black allows my hair to turn gray,
Taking root deep in my madness, throwing thoughts into the fray.
Once it seemed I cared for others and sacrificed myself,
Now I know selfish ignorance deludes my mental health.

Excluding the gentle wealth of a touch marked with love,
Why must we reach below to pull ourselves high above?
Did the heart die of love, or did it just become confused,
How can it keep the beat if it's pushed, pulled, and used.

First fooled yourself to find a fleeting feeling,
Like through the fixing of other's troubles you can find your own healing.
Stop and look at the top of the book to read the title between the lines,
"Put on the mask and be up for the task: Succeeding in these horrid times."

And which rhyme matches the reason you didn't realize,
That the face you call your own has never really known your own two eyes.
Specifically, what's inside the cold, dark parts,
You were only focused on the color found around your sins in this old, marked heart.

One day I'll find myself, and I'll be sure to remind myself,
That i was once like you, a foolish little boy, no use lying to myself.
But instead cry for he felt the self-inflicted pain,
Gained from a world of affection going down the drain.

And few truly know how to keep these mean streets at bay,
And you knew me, now make sure these lines don't wander or stray,
And so you walked in with a light to show me the way,
And I turned you away: crazy.

Can you find within yourself feeling to forgive this fallen face?
For the fiend within felt it's way through sin and found a lie to facilitate.
I try to tend to your torn perfection drowning in tears, tugging at the things I say,
Wither one biding fire and mend the lover in your eyes, words won't heal these wounds today.
