Counting down to the holidays.

I remember when
I was young
at Christmas time
in our kitchen hung

An advent calendar
numbered 1 - 24
Our family took turns
opening the doors

Suspense increased
as the month progressed
We could hardly wait
for the Christmas fest

It's wonderful when parents give their children something wonderful to look forward to. It's an art that is hard to practice when life takes people so many different ways.
