~   OLD STALE BREAD   ~

Feeding the ducks, this old loaf of bread,
In the park, where I sit on my swing.
Setting in wait is a dozen or two,
Fuzzy ducklings tucked underneath wings.

A Lop-eared Bunny, hides next to a tree,
Someone’s deserted it here,
To fend for himself, he's hungry, I'll bet,
There's plenty for us to share

Feeding the ducks, this old stale bread,
A crust for the lop-eared stray.
The yin and the yang, seem to balance it out,
In a mysterious, unbalanced way.

Sooner or later, folks come to the park,
The good and the bad, in review.
I sit on my swing and observe goings on,
In the lives of a picnic, or two.

Feeding the ducks, this old stale bread,
Opened tired weary eyes to reveal,
A world gone unnoticed, in my younger day,
Nature patiently waits, unconcealed…

I see more clearly, as my eyesight fades,
In the wonders bestowed upon me.
Nature’s beautiful bounty, her common sense rules,
Old stale bread and sunsets are free…

I think I read this before Bonnie, but I can't be sure. Lovely write, and yes I have gone to the park to feed the ducks, the bunnies, the badgers, and the birds. I watched as people had a picnics, and watched couples walking hand in hand in love, just enjoying a walk through nature. Thanx for sharing this with us.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my hweart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

I live in NJ, not far from the shore, born and raised on the beach in Sea Isle City, but I never seem to stray too far or forget where I lived way back when...this poem puts me back there in a a way. Feeding seagulls, terns and all other manner of creature off our ocean side porch, watching sunrises over the ocean and sunsets over the bay on an island not wide, no more than 5 blocks, and not so very far away...Peace thru Nature, Ed & Rufuz

How lovely. Yes, nature is so incredible, it is sad when we are too busy to actually see it. One of my favorite things is the buddhist mindful walking, it really calms me and helps me see things in a new perspective. This is a touching poem.

I love this! I'm a real fan of ducks, parks, and stale bread--as well as warm, fresh bread! You capture a wise, pensive mood.

Bonnie, enjoyed your poem. I wonder how many of us have actually taken time to enjoy a sunset. Life's pace has to slow down sometime. Excellent message here.
