Do Cats Get Brain Freeze?

Chicklet is one of our two cats who frequently finds himself in a poem....

I WONDER, DO CATS GET BRAIN FREEZE? You know the feeling…that sharp pain that shoots straight up through the roof of your mouth and into your sinuses and right up into your brain? It generally happens when you eat ice cream or guzzle down a frozen drink. It soon goes away as you thaw out. Our cat, Chicklet will jump up onto the tv table At the side of my desk and guzzle down My glass of ice water until he cannot Reach anything but the ice and yet That little pink tongue Hits the ice cubes at what seems like 90 miles an hour, leaving deep indentations the size of his tongue in the cubes. So I wonder, do cats get brain freeze? Susan Bergeron 9/10/09

I know one thing there ESP is very powerful. My cat Giuseppe can wake me from a deep medicated sleep without touching me. It happens every day I awake and see him sitting about 10 feet away just staring at me. This was an excellent writing.

Ha! I bet cats do get brain freeze! Hair balls are easier to spit out than brains! LOL...interesting observation, Susan...

Hmmmm, interesting question. I will have to observe mine, I have three, and see what transpires. I do know my pups chew ice cubes and guzzle down their puppy ice cream and no worse for the wear, but I will watch the kitties more closely...
