How life goes

I Was Here

I was here, and I was here for you-
Just praying that someday you’d see that too.
That happiness and love should be allowed
Instead of living life inside a cloud.

I waited all my years for you to see
Instead of the abuse- you could be free.
It shouldn’t be so hard to understand-
Just choose the love, just come and take my hand.

The seasons passed and age would take its toll-
A die was cast my love could not console.
That you would be another man’s supply
And nobody would ever question why.

Except I did, by every prayer to God
To ask if life should really be this odd?
Are Satan’s lies an angel’s poor excuse
To keep a happy devil running loose?

But he’s not happy. All the wealth you spilled
Into a hole that never could be filled-
I knew that it was meant for us to share-
But no one ever taught you playing fair.

I’m just as bad I guess, because I stay
Remembering before life got this way.
You’re still deserving, I can always tell.
Just wonder if I can outlast the spell.

John, I know about a black hole no amount of sacrifice can fill. This poem touched the deepest part of me. So sorry for her and for you.

An engaging poem and "story," John. Love can be difficult and often painful and soul-wrenching. Love and peace,

Regis. 🌳🍁🙏

Rather poignant, John. I rather enjoyed reading this as much as reading between the lines.

John: You've got to learn how to just throw caution to the wind,
jump in, and stir things up. It works about 80 percent of the
time. And those are pretty good odds. Look at me--completely
worn to a frazzle. But with a permanent smile.
