I sense the loss of a partner or friend. Someone that you could be comfortable with, but is now gone leaving you only with your own thoughts and no one to bounce them off of. In the last stanza the idea of, "Let it go for good, somehow," seems to bring closure to the solitude and the ability to get out into the fray again.

I admire your poetic structure here and your resolution to put a REAL 'pome' together properly, John. It's always great to read rhyming poems that not only rhyme, but that are mechanically well-constructed! As for love, well...love is a fleeting aspect of our lives and while a few find it, most do not (they only think they do), so rest assured you're not the least (sic) of the Mohicans in that regard! I myself spent most of my life convinced that my personal 'completion' as a fulfilled person rested (nay, DEPENDED) entirely upon 'finding' that 'right one'. It took me many years to put that adolescent yearning aside and embrace the fact that in a world in which each of us is a solitary, self-complete (for good or bad) entity, we are actually born 'complete' and it's just a matter of discovering that ineluctable fact out for ourselves. And now, excuse me but I need to go pig out on some hygienically EXECRABLE 'comfort food', LoL (part of my own search for perfect 'completion', naturally)! Aloha, -K2
