Wouldn’t Hurt

Maybe- with you standing there,
We can’t hide how much we care.
Look in eyes that held such tears.
It’s been long- so many years.

Slowly- we embrace and sway-
Finally- tears can have their day.
Let them fall, and us be light.
Two hearts singing, “This is right.”

You’ve been precious for so long.
Every moment, every song.
I just listened, shook my head.
Holding you like this instead.

Maybe, slightly, out of tune-
Way up there- the shining moon
Listened to my prayers for you.
Tell me dreams like this come true .

Hand in hand, we won’t let go.
Been too long, and we both know.
Who we have to thank for this.
Wouldn’t hurt- to share a kiss.

A beautiful as your poetry always is, John. I know a man who loved a woman secretly for many years, now they are married. Never give up hope where love is concerned.

So true. It wouldn't hurt to share a kiss...or a lifetime. You notched another one on the tree of life.

I hope it wasn't a dream, but a reunion after many years. And the tears were a bonus.

I really love the intensity and honesty that this poem shows me. I see that Elizabet (h on the end purposely removed the way she likes to call herself) has picked up on my penchant for commenting on all poems. Isn't that nice and considerate?

Dreams like this come true, believe me. Beautifully written.

No More Crying Angels by MORGAN ST. JAMES

TRUE STORY. Bella survived an abusive powerbroker father with organized crime ties, a drug-addicted mother and a physically/sexually abusive brother. Shocking & inspirational. When she couldn't cry, she tattooed a crying angel to cry for her.
