Our hopes and dreams and wishes in a package with a bow,
A guy who does the dishes, (just in case you didn’t know.)
We stood there in a dream come true and everybody knew,
I can’t believe, how long ago, that day I married you.
I used to feel so lost as all the folks say, “Life’s a game.”
But growing up means letting go of any kind of blame.
We can’t demand of happiness that everything must last-
But make our peace somehow with all that happened in the past.
I slew my fears to make you happy, gave us both a son.
Both of ours, enduring memory, two of us were one.
Different world than I imagined, tossed the map away-
Somehow though, we’re both still standing, thirty years today.
Now divorced from you and dreaming, see the way life goes-
Never more a star crossed lover- thinking that he knows-
I could repeat the pattern now and share my name once more.
It wasn’t love, but only you that closed that special door.
Certainly very hopeful beginning, like all marriages seem to be. But I was hoping for a better conclusion than a divorce. It was sad to see that happen. And, it is usually the woman that makes the decision to part.
I also went through a divorce about 40 years ago from a very short marriage of about 3 years. And, by coincidence, my partner and I, still unmarried have been together for 30 years and will probably until one of us is gone.
This is not a drill. The attack on Pearl. They were the ghost planes of the night, deadly, illusive, sharp-clawed Black Cats. The Memoirs of ARM H.P. Lawrence, a Pearl Harbor survivor, Black Cat, and decorated war veteran.
