The roots go deep.
It's hard to pluck the fruit
from the tree abandoned as a seed.

She wants to receive his love
but cannot seem to break free
She does not know how to explain
the roots beneath this mystery.
She longs to live out all her dreams
and delve into her deep desires.
She longs to see that look of love
lighting up his eyes.
Yes, she's seen that look before.
It's a look that goes down deep
But she fears rejection
and cannot take the leap.
And so, she goes to bed at night.
Gets tangled in her sheets.
Haunted by old memories
that steal away her sleep.
She's afraid she isn't good enough.
and cannot risk the pain.
She'd rather suffer on her own
than suffer if he walks away.
Another forlorn longing poem. Something broke the connection that probably was tenuous at best and now is haunting day and night until something shatters the morose… Perhaps a new love?
