Road Trip of Life

Traveling the road trip of life each day,

the obstacles and perils we can not see,

hoping and praying we’ll find the way,

for life is a journey that we can not flee.


Across mountains and the valleys we go,
searching for happiness, love and peace,

so much to learn, so little we really know,

each turn holds the promise of a new lease.


In want of power we race toward the end,
dreams of riches and a better tomorrow,

sadly along the way we forget our friends,

never realizing that our time is borrowed.


A world filled with fantasy living a dream,
our thoughts and desires create the illusions,

while we each ponder self-serving schemes,

only to find ourselves lost in utter confusion.


Living life is a road trip beyond all compare,
the mountains to the valleys of begotten time,

a trip we must take all alone and can not share,

an infusion of our heart, soul, body and mind.
