Jefferson wrote these words
Two hundred years ago at dawn
And since the time of his revelation
Over half the world’s forests are gone
We must somehow stop their destruction
Since Earth’s trees provide us with fresh air
They stop soil erosion, and they prevent floods
And, they provide habitat for animals everywhere
Arbor Day, A Holiday for Trees, was first proposed
Back in 1872, by Nebraska Pioneer J. Sterling Morton
He felt this nation needed many more magnificent trees
Thousands were planted, when his ‘Tree Idea’ was begun
But like so many other passionate ideas to enhance our lives
Arbor Day, like Earth Day, seems to be an idea from the past
Please join the movement, to help return our planet to its glory
Please plant a tree or two, leaving your own legacy that will last

REMINDS ME OF ALFRED JOYCE KILMER'S 'TREES' ... TK...
A friend of mine has just lost her baby, so we planted a tree dedicated to her, so that it will grow and be a living memory.
How ugly is a petrified landscape, devoid of trees.
