Mr. Ed sent me an email at the end of July saying that many people on the Den were asking about Ed Matlack’s status. I apologize to Mr. Ed that it took me so long to reply, but toward the end of July my computer got hacked so I was out of touch and I was extraordinarily busy building a technical school, so I had no clue what was happening with Ed since he came to our granddaughter’s shower in Kentucky just before Fathers’ Day.

Ed was found a week and a half ago laying in his yard babbling. The EMT’s said his blood sugar was over 1,100, and his blood pressure was near zero. Ed lapsed into a coma, and the doctors and nurses gave up on him, but Rene and many others didn’t. There were many people of many Christian religions all over the country praying for him along with many people at Authorsden. Ed defied death and Rene and I and several friends shared Ed’s birthday on August 3^rd with him. Rene has known Ed since they were kids, and she said it was his best birthday ever. All the nurses on the floor sang happy birthday to him, and he received seven dozen multi-colored roses. Personally, I’ve never laughed to the point of crying so many times in one day. Unfortunately, Ed regressed this morning, and we need your prayers as much as ever, especially with respect to Ed’s attitude.

Don’t worry. I will definitely look out for Woofie (Rufuz)—he’s an angel. Right now, he is sleeping in the middle of the king size bed here in my hotel room. I think I might find enough room on the fringe of the bed when I finally crash. Woofie needs your prayers too. He’s seriously glum without his best friend. While you’re at it, be sure to include Rene in your prayers. Woofie and I are en route to Kentucky.
