Bald is the Equivalent of Freedom

There is a freedom in being bald
But when you go bald for someone else the feeling goes so much deeper
I shaved my head for my grandmother back in 2015 and would do it again for anyone else with cancer
I currently have the itch to do it again
First the cut
And then the shave
And then taking the razor and getting all that remains
I wanna be bald again
No hair to mess with
Only shaving once a week
Becoming a Chia Pet for the hell of it
Or sporting a Mohawk when I feel the need
I love the feel of a scarf on my bald head
Even though it will stick
I just love the over all feeling to the touch and the lightness that abounds
I look tough and stronger
I feel brave and beautiful at least for awhile
People may make fun of me
But what's new?
I'm a laughing stock to so many
But I'd do it again
For the freedom
For the relief
For me

You not only showed empathy but you seem to have enjoyed your new look.

I have no friend or relative with cancer to emphasize with. My hair cutter, however, wants to "bald me." With each haircut, my hair grows shorter. I find that I now have to put something on my head to keep warm. When I look in the mirror, I don't recognize myself anymore. I don't want to be associated with motorcycle crowd tattooed chrome dome with a helmet, bulging muscle idiocy sweeping the country. I don't even want a ponytail long hair look or flowing beard full of cooties and crumbs.

But everyone wants to be an individual… So get out the blades and shave it off…

When my dad started losing his hair from cancer treatments, he asked my wife to just shave his head, aand I had her do the same with my head in support. And so we sat there side by side in his garage as my wife made us both chrome domes.
