Don't whisper promises of tomorrow,

thinking that I'll still be there.

My heart has been shattered once before

And without the will to rebuild,

I left the pieces on the ground,

From each sliver of hope that escaped me,

Another wall of brick was formed.

My heart is locked inside,

Safe from the danger of hope,

the slow poison that steals our spirit when we are blinded by a twinkling eye,

A warm touch,

A tale too good to be born of truth.

I won't deny the attraction,

The way your aura pulls me in,

Sends my heart racing,

pounding from the anticipation,

But I feel the need to make it clear,

That all you can gave me is what my body craves,

Because you will never touch my soul,

And even if you pick away at my walls,

Brick by brick,

The key to my heart won't be found,

So savor in what we have,

But don't ask for more,

Don't ask me to love you,

Because I can't.

I lost the part of me that knows how.

Hi Crystall you are love and Love is your name. People that love must and will love again. God is love Crystal and You are an exclusive expression of His love! You were misused in love but you triumph because of love, so you see you are the victor! That person wasn't worthy of your love and that is why the connedtion wasn't made. Remember God always protects our hearts even when we don't know what we are doing. I am guilty but love has found me again and I it. Thank you God and I am loving it. Your poem is magnificent. Peace!!!

Very sad write, however, we can probably all attest to be in this place at one time or another.

Tragic and sad write, about how rejection can prevent someone totally loving.

Don't let the lock go rusty..

Emotional truth expressed with beauty and courage - love is elusive, and only few occasions may elevate us to glimpes of sublime love. The key to one's heart can be found only after consciousness tells it has been lost. Thanks, Crystal. Franz

There is so much painful truth in your powerful verses here, Rain. The imagery complements the emotions and the meaning intended. Thank you for sharing this precious part of your soul. Love and peace always. Regis
