Describes my love for poetry

My paper is an easel

My brush is my pen,

I create poems in rhythm,

A Mozart within.

My mind's a blank canvas

Which roars like the sea,

Words flow as if  magic

And spill out through me.

Sometimes they go smoothly

Still waters I've seen,

Sometimes I can't keep up

Like scenes in a dream.

Free verse, haiku, limerick

Not just one certain kind,

Fill my thoughts like a painting

Rapidly in my mind.

Each night I must write them down

To limit what I think,

It I did not, I'd paint all night

And wouldn't sleep a wink.

When it comes to poetry, you and I are very much alike. I often start with a blank slate and quickly fill in the words in rhyme hardly thinking about it. Thanks for your musings.

Hi Cheryl, I feel the same way about poetry, and you expressed it quite well. I live about sixty miles from New Orleans, Thibodaux. Hello neighbor. Welcome to AD.

Your passion for writing poetry is tangible in your poem. Words flow as if majic and spill out through me, is truly the way it is; a gushing spiritual experience. Thank you for sharing. You are welcome to view my poetry also.
