(Usually, it's at night when I miss my wife the most. She passed a little over four months ago and still the sleep comes uneasy.)
Another night is falling; Soon the shadows will grow long. Then the beast will come a’ calling, Singing his baleful song. Pretending not to hear him, I turn away in open shame. My heart knows something’s missing, But it will not be the pain. The ravenous beast grows hungry! He growls; he moans; he screams. I’ll cling to thoughts more sunny ‘Till he violates my dreams. The morning won’t come soon enough; But the tears will surely come. I’ll endure the beast’s relentless bluff ‘Till the night is finally done.
