What Can I Give To You?
The boy had asked his father once,
"what can I give to you?
You've done so much for me I feel
there's something I should do.
"You cared for me when I was small
you read to me at night.
You taught me all the little things
so I'd turn out alright.
"You showed me how to tie my shoes
and how to throw a ball.
You taught me how to ride a bike
and caught me when I'd fall.
"You walked with me and talked with
me and made me who I am.
You taught me right from wrong
so I can be a better man.
"I want to give you something
from your grateful, thankful kid."
The father smiled a father's smile,
"son, you already did."
