Fast as my kilted legs could run
i hie’d in panics haste
for the woods

breath labouring in painful gasps
i heard the taunting
of his pursuit

death chased me with a light cavalry sabre
and I could hear his nearness
chasing my fleeing self

but rising from a grassy knoll before me
green clad and Baker armed
a rifle shot rang out

a scream of mounted Frenchie
is what i heard
and falling to my knees

i looked back at my demon
pelisse purple
stained with red heart shot

over he catapulted backwards
shako down and dead
before his ground fall

loud huzzahs from hidden riflemen
and the shooter laughing now
as he bowed in glory
