My best friend shot me with a BB gun when we were kids and it gave me an idea for this song.

Run And Hide

Well I've been runnin' since I was a teen,
Ever' place I went, it meant nothin' to me.
I tried settlin' down, a time or two
but ever' time I tried, the law found me too.

I shot a boy, don't know if he lived,
he was the sheriff's son who lived up on a hill.
I didn't mean to do it, he was a friend of mine
but that didn't matter for what I done this time.

Run and hide, Run and hide
Run and hide while there's still time.
Run and  hide, Run and hide
Run and hide.....( hold note and pause),
while there's still time.

Well the man done an' caught me, now he put me in jail,
he said you got one call, then you go to hell.
He said this time boy, your runnin's done
you gonna hang real soon with the mornin' sun.

But then one night, there was a fire in the jail
and all the prisoners, they began to yell.
In the smoke and panic, they began to run,
now I got away and I'm back on the run.

Run and hide, Run and  hide
Run and hide while there's still time.
Run and hide, Run and hide
Run and hide..... (hold note and pause),
while there's still time.

Now the years went by and I stayed away,
I just lived my life from day to day.
I changed my name and ever' thing I could
to forget what happened that day in the woods.

Then one day, there was a knock on my door,
I thought to make a run out my back door.
But I was tired a' runnin', thought I'd make a plea,
just let 'em come on in and take a hold of me.

But there a standing, to my surprise,
it was the sheriff's son, he was still alive.
He said boy, I've been lookin' for you,
for five long years since that day in the woods.

He said he remembered what happened that day,
but lying in a coma wasn't able to say.
After two long years, lying still in bed,
he awoke from his coma and then he said.

He told them all, how it came to be,
that he got shot but not because of me.
He was holding my gun, when he tripped and fell
the gun went off, he recounted the tale.

I knew it wasn't true , the story he told,
he had take the blame just to save my soul.
He knew I didn't mean it, though I was the one
that fell that day and shot him with my gun.

Run and hide, Run and hide
don't have to run and hide this time, no no.
Run and hide, Run and hide
Don't have to run and hide anymore

Run and hide, Run and hide
don't have to run and hide this time.
Run and hide, Run and hide
don't have to run and hide..(hold note)... this.... time.

Reminds me of, "I shot the Sheriff, but I did not shoot the Deputy!"

Also reminded me of the BB gun shooting match I had with a guy until I realized, bouncing a BB off his head that I could have… "Put his eye out!" And abruptly stopped. And then, there was a time that I filled my BB gun with colored shaker candy and shot my sister with it. I don't think it hurt her, but my dad gave me a single swipe that knocked me downstairs from my bedroom on the second floor to the door at the bottom. And then, there was a time when I shot my cousin with my 16gauge at over 100 yards trying to hit a low-flying grouse.

Was I gun accident prone? I bet you could write some songs about that?
