My head is stuck on this hat thing, forgive me! Part two of "What's In A Hat?"

This And That

Now what would I wear
if we didn't have hats
I guess I'd try wearing
this and that

if hats weren't around
then what would I do
to cover my head
what else could I use

well I tried wearing cheese
from the fridge that is near
but all the cheese melted
and stuck in my ear

I pulled up my shirt
way over my top
but it covered my eyes
and I couldn't see to walk

I tried an old sack
I pulled down to my ears
but it got stuck inside
so I couldn't hear

I tried a soup bowl
the biggest I had
but when I ate soup
I swallowed a hair

I tried an old sock
I had thrown in a pile
but boy did it stink
and it stunk up my hair

I tried my left shoe
from the pair that I wear
but I walk awful funny
when that left  foot is bare

I sat a big book
split down on my top
it seemed to work fine
but I didn't look smart

I tried an old bucket
I thought what an idea
but I looked like a monster
and they all ran in fear

I wore a brown stocking
I found in a drawer
but was tight on my face
and it made my nose sore

so you see how important
is a thing like a hat
as it sure beats wearing
this and that

and I'm glad they make
all kinds of hats
so YOU won't have to try wearing
this and that

My father was handsome like you, but very vain - he never went without a cap - usually a gimme. His lovely hair was receding, not like yours, and he couldn't bear it showing. However, the more you wear a hat, the less air gets to your scalp and your hair takes a hike. This is a very funny poem, made me laugh like crazy.
