observation

I read or hear poets of now
Who with their poetry try to wow
Readers and listeners oft enthralled
With their poetry, as its now called.
I read and listen and often think What motivates their pen to ink?
The thoughts are lofty and profound
But as I read and listen they sound
Like disorganized disjointed prose.
Yes that's how modern poetry goes!
Like modern art to classic fare
This poetry they do compare
To classic poetry well known
Where thoughts ride waves of rhyme and tone
Ethereal words and lilting rhyme
Reading and listening made sublime!
'Modern'artists had classic start
Knew how to draw ere 'modern' art.
I wonder how many poets today-
Sans rhyme, rhythm began that way?
It's everyone's right to write,God knows,
Don't call Poetry what's really Prose!
