Who recalls greed-fed conquests all anodyne
Blissful mad morning trills drill Orphean Warblers
Kill not mad poets the soul-blood of mankind
Their words stretch galactic aeons of the mind

Villanelle: Kill not Mad Poets the Soul-Blood of Mankind
.......for Emmanuel MACRON

[You were born when I came (or rather was passing through) to your country with a wife and four-year-old son. The same POLICE who deported Jews from Paris after rounding them up at the Pithiviers Velodrome, during WWII, took the wife and later the son and put all three through HELL, turning one against the other. I was officially warned, in 1994, that if I didn't take French nationality, I would be "persecuted to my very death" - not that I was not aware of it until then. I learned two essential facts about your country: that the Catholic Church is immune to criminal liability and that sexual promiscuity as a way of life is far more valued and preserved than the integrity of the Justice System.

The European correspondent of the LIBERATION newspaper Quatremer is reputed to have said: "You hailed from no-where; you have no background, and yet you became the President of the Republic."

The truth is, you have learned your lessons well since the Bastille Day awkward coyness over President Trump during the Champs Elysée military parade.

I do think you are made of sterner stuff ever since you graduated as a philosophy major.

I am still a STATELESS PERSON having brought up a handicapped son all by myself, even if I'm trapped here with a useless Travel Document for want of legality.

I just thought you would like to know, Monsieur le Président de la République française. Mes plus profonds respects.]

Kill not mad poets the soul-blood of mankind
Better kill gods teacher-preachers saviours
Their words stretch galactic aeons of the mind

Who kills trills of the fine feathered chirping kind
Never clapping thunder smother lonely warblers
Kill not mad poets the soul-blood of mankind

The Merle Noir maddens the Warbler Subalpine
Will not the Woodchat Shrike tease Yellow Hammers
Their words stretch galactic aeons of the mind

Kill not mad poets the soul-blood of mankind

Who but raving politicos seek to bind
Mad poets lyrical fill hungry beggars
Their words stretch galactic aeons of the mind

Who recalls greed-fed conquests all anodyne
Blissful mad morning trills drill Orphean Warblers
Kill not mad poets the soul-blood of mankind
Their words stretch galactic aeons of the mind

Well, Monseigneur Don Ron, I have to say something to re-celebrate your usual "sense of justice" and the heroic courage that accompanies your salvoes.
I found ONLY one lawyer - and that, too, fresh from the faculty - who was willing to fight for my son right from the start, and he said something that shocked me then but not ever since:

"Every President of the Republic is afraid of the POLICE !"

Are "mad poets" angry or just insane? I believe, probably, both. It is a fine madness that drives poets to challenge the word of politics. But they do it anyway. And I like it that way. Thank you for more enlightenment about the Ways and Means of French presidents and mad poets.

Ron
