Even before
In childhood
I loved
the damsel in distress
the magic in imperfections
And it’s gonna be soon
And he’s gonna be larger than life
Funny how human
and flaw seem synonymous at times.

I shouted “It’s my third eye”
“You are wise
because you love everything
from a distance”
Truth lost in new words

plastic covers
keep the heart from rusting
Sun self-conscious
Wind furious
the reticent volcano keeps
The sorry scheme of things

Let every babbler be
Your pillow wept
Cracked ice
I’d scavenged punched
a star-shaped wound into my forehead
Scrape our hearts into a city landmark
Maybe I think too much of you
Only your lips make me foolish
If I could lasso this sadness
with words
He is the one undressing
Sweet nothing
The lure of words
True charms lie at the heart of imperfections
Six years of barely friends
Sorry this is late
Admonished by her buckled lips
I want to decide between survival and bliss
And it’s gonna be soon
Scrape our hearts into a city landmark
And it’s gonna be soon
