A Place Where Grandmas Go

This is dedicated to the woman I'll always miss...

From that special place where all grandmas go, comes a trace of your scent stirring my heart… Clove oil, flour, soap, and noodles, beloved dolls, pixie dust, vintage photos, and lace. As I breathe in your memory, the old clock chimes “one”… a reminder of the place you held in my world. Loyal, loving, weaver of dreams… Safety net, mirror, mentor and friend… Someday I’ll be where all grandmas go, with heavenly scents of clove oil, flour, soap, and noodles, beloved dolls, pixie dust, vintage photos, and lace. There in His glory you’ll be waiting for me… with an inviting embrace, laughter, and joy, a place where I’ll finally be home.

Very personal and engaging portrayal of this closeness of your grandmother. The enchantment is contained in these details, for they are as unique as the woman herself, that you selected the trinkets of her personality and character, as well as the era in which she lived. Thank you for this sentiment and ability to convey what someone can mean to another. My twin grand daughters are six years old. So sweet, Shelly! I have only faint memories of my only grandmother, since she died when I was 5. In my memories, old ladies were fluffy and smelled of sachets. They always had hankies right there in their sleeves. But as far as personal relationship, I missed out on that. Yours sounds sweet and wonderful, just the kind of grandma I would have loved to have, and the kind I'd love to be.

Oh Michelle how beautiful...I was just browsing tonight and stumbled upon this wonderful poem. It made me recall the scent of my own grandmother and recall so many fond memories, yes my grandmother awaits me in heaven. I want my grandchildren to think of me and remember in such fond ways as you've described in your beatuiful poem.
