The lines were drawn long ago with arrogance and fear So agendas steered the course while science hitched a ride Many motives No remorse with hubris as a guide
A modest farmer made the find while clearing with his son entwined under an Aspen clutched tightly by its roots A treasure or a curse to him This target of dispute
No reward was sought by him No bounty ever paid In lieu of taking any stand his profit would be grief A forger or an honest man? Scholars treated as a thief
His three years of education never could afford interpretation of linguistics that still puzzle the erudite Genius or a magic trick? Judged throughout his life
Early studies of the stone were done by the astute Without knowledge nor the tools implied experts spoke their mind Politicians or just fools? our past was redefined...

I've learnt a lot from you and through working on the documentary I gained a soul mate, a lover and best friend. The poem has an unusual and complicated rhyme scheme and meter but I found it to be meaningful, especially given my insight into the story. You're a brilliant writer and your vision to produce this doccy and get the message out there has now been realized. I'm so so proud of you. Well done!
