I feel that Everything has its price. While some things may seem to be free, there is always someone somewhere that has had to pay. Freedom, itself, has a cost. Though we, ourselves, may reap the benefits of that for which another has paid, even for the indulgence of enjoying those benefits, somewhere down the road in our life....we will pay a cost for those enjoyments. It is said that "Experience is the best teacher". That could be due to the high price we pay to gain from her knowledge.
Lady Regret Dances
So you think you can escape the bitter taste of liquid illusions
That present themselves on a pale platter of silence.
Do you also think that you can tease and taunt
The warmth of intoxication to which your false reality
Has taken like a lover , and which with many sighs
Has not only entertained, but has danced the night through
Giving no curiosity to the morbid chill that
Lady Regret would same day lay at your feet,
And with a kiss upon your screeching moan,
And a smile at the frost of your terror,
Demand her payment in full?
You have eaten the breads of fantasy and have sipped
The red wines of your passion
You have disregarded the conversations
Of Tolerance and Forbearance when the weight of their words
Began to cut into the dark pit of your soul
Causing you to stagger in your walk as one drunken
From the torments of deceit.
“Enough!” you shout, as the autumn of time
Turns her rust colored face away from you
So that all you behold are the icy winter locks of her hair,
While the dawn of torment reaches out in hopes
Of embracing you at the very moment your step falters
On the line which marks time from eternity.
Did you believe that it would please Lady Regret to Not deliver you
Captive into the clutches of the Warden of Death
With his evil laughter and mockery of your addiction
As he watches with perverted pleasure while you suffer the agony
Of one who has slovenly eaten the delicacies of the over indulgent?
Did you? Did you really believe you would never
Have to pay the price of the dance that has now ended?
The Maestro steps down. Lady Regret waits for the next fool.
Experience truly is the best teacher, and this is quite a powerful piece, Leah.

To start with, it seems you and Jerry co-wrote his and yours, geez, now I am afraid to leave my house today...all these almost predictions of doom and where we end up and all has me shaking in my BVD's...Actually though if you were up those meds you are on, these thoughts may dissipate...LOL! Another wonderfully thoughtful, interesting write from a certain Southern couple that I think highly of...Ed & Rufuz (w00f)

Youu . . . are . . . talking . . . about . . . me . . . again. Stop that! Wierd that you would write this poem just as I posted one that, shall we say, carries your premise a bit further. Very good stuff.
People who live in regrets norally let Lady Regrets lead them by the nose; that is why Lady Regrets should never wins. One cannot cry over spilt milk, so one should only always move forward. Lady Regrets should never win!
It is five years since Delta Force stopped a deadly missile attack in the Middle East. Now team leader Jason Patrick is living a quieter life in North Carolina with his family, stationed at Fort Bragg.
But that is about to change when a new,
It takes you to a dark place in the company of two of New York's finest detectives as they go the extra mile to bring a sadistic serial killer to justice.
I almost felt guilty as charged!!
