Micturation blues

This is a poem I wrote after going for months of insufficient access to the washroom, during classroom time.

Micturation blues

Teachers may pause to meditate

on the fact that they may not micturate

for hours on end, while on duty

now isn’t that just a beauty?

Standing there with legs crossed

hoping that not a drop will be lost

the washroom location ten miles down the hall comes as a surprise

and children cannot be left unsupervised

It has long been proven

that it is absolutely inhuman

to prevent people from going to the lavatory

but it still happens to teachers, in this free society

Teachers, instead of bargaining for more wages

perhaps you should tell the sages

that washroom breaks need be mandatory

the alternative is very sorry

Failing that, the staff room coffee machine should disappear

diet coke and even water lose their appeal

for until teachers turn into camels, I think

two hours and sometimes more are over the brink.

C l e v e r and to t h e p o in t! Shame on whoever is responsible for failing to
make sure the women's restroom{-s} is equipped to meet your and
others' needs. As you know, it jeopardizes health to wait so long.
Day after day. . .bless your heart. Sure did a great job of

Don't know if there's enough Depends in the world for this one.
Have to agree, 2-hours-plus is absolutely cruel.
Thanks for enlightening us.

Even in our "updated" school facility, there are not enough washrooms. But hey. People (not all but a great many) still think teachers should abide by the rules of the 1800's. This stirs anger within me and that's not easy to do. Love and peace to you, Janet,

When you gotta go,.....you gotta go#
You raise a pertinent point here, that should be addressed by the authorities...
I always enjoy your original and innovative works, Janet..
More power to your golden quill..

Some teachers are very cruel. They restricted the children and would not let them go to the washroom, until they embarrass themselves by leaking out in front of the whole class.

Teachers need to re-evaluate themselves before they cry for more money.

A good thought-provoking piece!!!!!

Janet,

Boy, don't I know that feeling well. When ya gotta go, ya gotta go. It only gets worse as you age. Trust me. :)

Never thought I'd be reading a poem about peeing. You done good here, and taught me a new word - micturation. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Teaching has always had drawbacks, but I never dreamed it was this bad. Perhaps, those who teach need to change the latin words you use so delicately, to one simple contract line, "When we need to pee, we shall go pee." 'Twould be a good test of class discipline, also.
My consultanting hours are nine to five.
You surely write up the problem well. Hope a solution is found- Bill
