a poem, to get us to thinking, stop the talking, have some action!

What now?

Images buried into the minds
We still are blinded by the truth
Of the eruption of the earth
Between the big Easy and
Gulport, Mississippi.
We see the complacency
Of local, state and the federal
Government as fingers are pointed
But my question is "what now?"
Will we continue to play the blame game while
Our fellow Americans are struggling with
Finding a new life, starting over,
While Red Cross and FEMA try to
Give them the basics to revive their
Battered souls.
These people need us now more than ever.
Will we continue to switch the channels
Watching the news reports, shaking our heads,
Or find a way to directly impact them by
Volunteering in some way.
These are our people.
And it could be one of us.
So as images bury your open eyes
Don't stay stuck in amen corners
Talking about how bad this is,
Get to moving.
Sign up to volunteer.
Show up at a center and give of you.
If you sing, find a way to uplift them with a song.
If you can donate, go through your home and find
Can goods, books, clothing, anything that can be used.
Remember some people came out with nothing on their
backs.
Everything is not about money, but giving of your soul
And spirit.
Let's stop the conversations, showboating, and get down to
The business of taking care of our family and friends!
Because it could me or you.
Now, what you gonna do?

AMEN and AMEN. Powerful message here to stop the finger pointing and get down to business...that's our brothers and sisters suffering.

Reminds me of one of my own: KATRINA: The Storm Inside.

Excellent writing here--well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Chronicles of the HEdge by Jeff Ovall

A true page-turner, Jeff Ovall’s futurist work of fiction peers into the history of a world not yet realized, yet ominously closer than most could imagine. A time in which the past has been reborn and humankind, in all its glory and misery, has final
