Those of you who have read this before will likely immediately notice that I have cut the last stanza of the peice. This was a refference to God "pulling the wool" from the eyes of the speaker, and showing them "the secrets of the universe." Given the content of the poem up to that point, however, these last lines seemed to stick out like a sore thumb. It didn't really work to have a poem talking about God teaching self-reliance end with an affirmation that in the end, we needed God to open our eyes to the "secrets of the universe."
