Each poet dips their pen into their own soul,
and then writes their own nature into their words.
.
A child reaches out
for the sustenance it needs,
poets reach for words
.
Look at me, some boast.
I made my sentences rhyme.
Now, I’m a poet….
.
Let poetry be
More than just banal rhyming
And cutesy caprice
.
Let poetry be
More than belligerent angst
And bloated egos
.
Let poetry be
the writers stark expression
Of soulish turmoils
.
Let poetry be
A healing path through problems
Without concession
.
Let poetry be
an unbiased revealing
of a wounded heart
.
Let poetry be
More than just bland locutions
Of what true love is
.
Let poetry be
A sifting through staid thinking
To reveal newness
.
Perhaps some should ask
whether they gathered the gems
of poetic thought
to celebrate themselves, or
to enrich the written word…
.
PART 2.
.
Let poetry be
A rock thrown into a pond
Challenging thinking
.
Let poetry be
A place where words open up
As fragrant flowers
.
Let poetry be
Stories told accurately
With no disrespect
.
Let poetry be
A respectful recounting
Of long past kinship's
.
Let poetry be
Each individuals truth
Honestly written
.
Let poetry be
A difficult revealing
Of life’s injustice
.
Let poetry be
A journey into substance
With zero feigning
.
Let poetry be
A cautiously shared record
Of each poets life
.
Let poetry share
What conversation ruins
(Acceptance or not)
The art of framing a storm
Reflected in truthful calm
.

A NEW RACE OF HuMANS
Poetry cannot be perfect, only expressed. If a poem strikes the reader in a way that the reader wants to share with others, the poem may have a long life. The popular success of a poem is the number of reads. But for some, simply writing a poem to relieve one's mind that no one reads except the writer, is not only legitimate, but the best of poems.
