A tiny heart was beating in a new-born baby boy
The Prince sent down from heaven to bring the world great joy
Awaited through the ages, but rejected by his own
Born in a dreary stable, when He should have had a throne
This babe slept in a manger, no soft pillow for his head
Instead of loyal servants, cattle surrounded his bed
The coarse straw in the manger that tickled his little face
Was borrowed from the livestock to make him a comfy place
He was the Son of God, who grew in wisdom and grace
Who lived with his precious mother until he was of age
Then, for the poor and needy ones, with all who would believe
He healed, performed great miracles, and bade them "Follow Me"
He lived to bring redemption to those who heard his call
For mankind was separated from God, who made them all
There was only one solution to make up for their loss
He who'd slept in a manger poured his love out on the cross
The pure and sinless Jesus made a willing sacrifice
His loving heart stopped beating to pay each sinner's price
For three long days in darkness, his body lay alone
Then the Son rose in majesty ... our King is on his throne!
From the manger to the cross; from the cross to the grave
The heartbeat of Christmas came down to earth to save
Now every one who sees the light, who finds the King of kings
Will join the risen Son to live in the joy forgiveness brings.
. . . behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him (Joseph) in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. ~ Matthew 1:20, 21 KJV
