Gauze Curtains

She sat up-right in bed, between the crisp, white linen sheets
While he slept on his side, using her naked thigh as a pillow, resting his outstretched hand just below her breast
She looked down at him - the sheet only covering the lower half of his firm, muscular body, where the gentle curve of his buttocks begins to meet his back
The gauze curtains floated peacefully with the sea breeze and caught her peripheral view
Her attention was then drawn to the tall palm tree a hundred feet away from the window, shifting it’s weight from side to side, gently
Her toes were still sandy from the walk on the beach, just before the moon began to decline
Hours had passed, but she was fitful since then
His face still in her memory
Pleading for another chance
And for the first time, seeing how desperately in love with her he was
But was she as passionate for his heart?

Time passed away with the sound of his steady breathing
A child called for her as the sunlight streamed through the still, gauze curtains
The pine tree outside the window bent with the wintry wind.
She rose from the bed carefully, so as not to disturb him
To tend to the calling of her child.
