Have You Ever Just Known?

Come on, have you ever just known that this was magic?

Poem Artwork

Have you ever been certain of something?
It wasn’t completely obvious at first.
But somehow, way inside, a voice spoke.
Quiet whispers of warmth.
Cocking our heads to one side.
Listening to words unspoken but felt.
Some things that fell into place so well.
Déjà vu is the cliché often used to describe.
When moments are seen, or heard, or understood.
Before they could, or would, or should have been.
No matter what this may all mean in the scope of things.
For no crystal ball floats between our souls.
Still, energy denying that desert magic exists, is wasted.
It isn’t about looks, though very attractive you are.
Nothing trivial or superficial makes me write this reflection.
It’s just that the clues are there, but do I mistranslate?
Hey, let’s not make this too serious or deep.
I just think the world of you and refuse to apologize.
So tell me now if I’m out-of-line, please.
Not that it will change how I feel about you.
Because, like the draw of a burning fireplace.
I travel on this highway to somehow always return to you.
Hopes and prayers I shower upon you.
The vocabulary never does justice to what I feel for you.
Take care in all things and trust in what you sense.
Where ever you go, I will be right here.
Have you ever just known?
