Twenty Lies

For the love of poetry ...

                    Twenty Lies

I ask if you‘ve learned from your bloody past
And you tell me twenty lies ...
Hallelujah, seeds I planted long ago
Have grown into your constant shadow.
I reached out, and lifted up my blurry eyes
To expose sly sins you’ve buried deep within,
I mark you down in history
With my sacred, dripping, bloody, crimson pen.

You tied a knot in Cupid’s heart, its true
That’s love, blowing down your house of cards.
You claim your gift is like a dazzling-shooting star
Whose stardust-twinkling-shinning span, expands -
Too far to exceed your fallen shadow …
You keep lying, and I keep blowing …
‘Cause I know where my people must tread …
Upon the unlit way, twenty lies, twenty-one trails.

My people have traced your tiny footprints
Down to raging, briny, blue green seas …
Upon present mystery and past history,
You say, "Go ahead, jump right on in! Swim if you can!".
My people beheld-behold egocentric idyllic waves
Rushing upon these age-old, smelly, salty shores.
Hallelujah, sands stirred long ago
Have caused quite an awesome, endless swell.

Never stand and stare too long at the sea
The salt may cause you to blink and go blind …
Never lie too long upon its sandy shores
The view may move and cause you to drown …
Never follow someone else’s path
The devil may lead you down a dead end road …
Hallelujah, seeds you plant today
May line a path, that evolves into a enchanting story.

I ask if you‘ve learned from your years of history
And you tell me twenty more lies ...
I ask if you‘ve learned from your tears of history
And you tell me twenty-one more lies ...
You tied a knot in Cupid’s heart, its true
My people have traced your tiny footprints
I marked you down in history
Twenty-one lies, twenty-two trails, we tread …

We should have been blood brothers …
Instead, I find you constantly riding shadows.
We should be sharing the same trail …
Instead, I find you pitching poisonous lies.
I wanted to work along side you in God’s garden,
Instead, you said, "We can’t plant the same seeds…"
I marked you down in history
Twenty-two lies, twenty-three lit poems, I write …

My thought for today:
I am but a tiny seed,
Blowing in a wayward breeze …
Where I land, I know not why,
Will that be where I fly again?
Or will that be where I die?

I believe we never die but where the seed lands and what we do there and learn is the thing. Great poem. Thank you. Love and peace. Regis

Your poet mind is too brilliant to allow you to die...so don't even
mention such a thing in your verse, Jimmy.
These are some VERY deep lines here.
