It's time to be inspired ...

Sunday’s Song

(Just because it is Sunday)

We always seek to fly due North
Few desperadoes, before or after us,
Will dare do the same …
We hope to touch God’s holy, liberating light,
But, that’s the beauty of mockingbirds
We can still sing, even from a cage …
And yes, alas, somehow, someway,
In remarkable beauty, we flap our wings …
Safe beyond thorns and over mountaintops
We shake our virtuous, heavenly tail feathers
Then we pucker inflated, big, flattering lips
That’s our lesson -- all is overcome, by a simple smile …
And even though, somehow, someway, some days
Antagonists paint us ugly and unclean -
We still wash in God’s bold sunshine,
Typecast, sometimes, in this resistible way,
We know these devious dirty-birds,
Are obviously, quite insane …
And yes, alas, somehow, someway, some days,
We still love all mankind … even now -
Despite what God’s progeny must tolerate -
And too frequently feel and see …
Despite this boredom that complicates life,
Despite these twists and jagged knives,
Despite these groans and occasional strife,
Despite this red paint and pale canvas,
Despite this black ink and ebony image,
Despite these calls of the wild,
Eternity is Sunday’s devoted songbirds,
Who love one another, yes, alas, somehow …

(I have heard many rumors ... that I "was" defeated - not true ! that'll never happen!)

(From Atlanta, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King’s hometown - love!)

She Intrigues Me, Revelations Of Love by Jon Willey

If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
