Who Is To Blame?

Who is to blame for my wounds, in and out

Who is to blame for the cries – not out loud

Who is to blame for the head lowly bowed

Oh, I see. It’s me.

It is all my fault that you don’t love me,

Two weeks after we married

Because you ran into your ex-girlfriend

In that store

And asked me to walk down another aisle

So you wouldn’t have to introduce me

As your wife

It is all my fault that you only married me

For one thing

That elusive thing you couldn’t have

The entire time we dated

My virginity

It is all my fault that I allowed you to toss

Verbal words at my body Like weapons

To wound and to scar and to take

The very life out of me

So that you could leave

It is all my fault because who else is to blame?

It is all my fault because of a ring I brought you shame

It is all my fault because all else is a lame

Excuse

To think that It might be

Your fault.

That punk. Though it would never have occured to you at the time, you were so beyond all of that.

Wow. My daughter just got out of an abusive relationship, and she needs to see this. Thank you so much for sharing.
