I have a head for business and a body made for sin.
I am the Delta Queen,
I have been on my own, since I was sixteen.
I sell my body, just to survive,
As one man leaves my room, another arrives.
Oh Please don't ask me why I'm here,
I am just another fallen woman, that a wife fears.
What she refuses to give her man,
For money I will and so can.
Many a man has laid upon my ivory, rose scented breasts,
While I soothe his mind and grant him happiness.
I stroke male egos and other parts,
But when his time is up, I want him to depart.
No man owns my heart, but many share my body,
They suckle my breasts and beg me to spank them cause they are naughty.
I have played the part of Mama, lover and friend,
When their time is up, all emotion ends.
This is a job to me and men can't understand,
I am just a fantasy merchant, my job is to please a man.
I have a clientele of various men,
They come for my lovin, again and again.
I am real picky, I am always in high demand,
I say when and who, because I can.
I keep a switchblade within reach,
There was once a John who thought he had somethang to teach.
He started slappin me around, but didn't get far,
I sliced him good, he still wears my scar.
Do I want love?, Hell, there is no such thing,
Most all my Johns wear a wedding ring.
I hold the power, it dwells between my thighs,
I can reduce the strongest man to quakin puddy, hear his sighs.
For a good time, come see the Delta Queen, for I have the nack,
I am a business woman, who conducts business while layin on my back.
That was a fun read and one kept entering my mind while reading --- what a lonely way to live.

I really liked it but I wish it would have went more in depth with her feelings on what she does rather than just what it is that she is doing and the service she gives others. But all in all it was well written^-^
You've covered the bases of the world's oldest profession. This part seems fully under control, it's the other part that I worry about. There is little noble in this business and most prostitutes are merely slaves to pimps who use them as a way of making money until they are used up.
very very very good....outstanding even...Southern, you have done yourself proud with this narrative.
Oddly, I once interviewed a group of ladies who were in this business and your poem could well have been written using those interviews. You have captured the working girls world here.
A write that tells it like it is not only for this lady but hundreds more like her who grew up knowing no other life and the sad part is, never knowing love they cannot believe in love.

You know, some wallets will quickly grow lean
