trouble

His eyes are keen
viewing more than sky
He talks to angels and
voices whisper, voices
that only Thomas can hear.
He follows them as they speak
Follows them to places that none
of us will ever know. A young man
who talks to angels as he works,
always looking down, as he
creeps along the store, silent as
the voices only he can hear.

Modern day man has been trained to question everything, classify it, and shove it in a box. We especially enjoy shoving odd human behaviors into boxes labeled "mental disorder." (The hot one these days is borderline personality disorder. What's interesting about this one is that if you were to compare the symptoms for what's being termed "forming unhealthy emotional attachments" to a list of symptoms of infatuation you'd find they're virtually the same. So now I guess they'll be cramming pills down the throats of people who simply had the misfortune to fall in love.)

When we see people like Thomas, who appear to talk to entities that only they can see, we usually toss them in the schizophrenia box. But how can we be sure the man does not speak to angels? :-) Some mental health professionals are starting to consider that certain humans are what's called hypersensitive (sort of psychic and more open to vibrational and electromagnetic phenomena that the rest of us don't sense). They've speculated that it's possible that these people are seeing something the rest of us can't see. Perhaps due to experiencing a trauma, these people are not able to handle "the visions." I suppose mental health professionals who consider this possibility have come to these conclusions after observing how often people who talk to the invisible have similar conversations with the unseen. We probably will never know the truth until we too can see the angels. Lovely poem, Bill. ~~Nordette

An interesting piece, William - but if his angels comfort him, I wonder if this truly is - trouble..

HE TALKS TO ANGELS is so wonderful in and of itself that there's hardly anything this poet might say about it. Truly enjoy the sense of individual communion between a human spiritual being and an angelic one, quietly cultivating a "separate peace" in a world where peace is too eagerly destroyed. Thank you.
