in a dream
I held you --
butterfly being born
through passage to
a place you have yet
to imagine

wrapped up
in each other
we wept with joy
through the difficult
shedding of skin and
of people who have been
golden calves whose velvet voices
held you in sway, bid you hold me
at bay

eyes locked and
hearts beating wild,
as wings you remembered
as a dream within my dream,
we held tight this time
and found again
new form,
breath

love's
resurrection . . .
as if there had been no grave,
no patterned denials,
no veil torn between
the one we were

I wake from
long night of no dreams
at last to this sweet flutter . . .
love rising, emerging
from cocoon intact
and yet changed,
more beautiful
and full

releasing dream
I whisper to the wind
and rise to meet the day
heart open to the moment's
opportunity, new ways to
hold a space, see
with grace all others
through the heart
that held you
in a dream

Beautiful poetry Dawn.
I especially love, "See with grace all others through the heart that held you in a dream."
Loving someone teaches us to see, even if it is no help to the beloved. It is better to see.

John

Epiphany by Gary Stephens

“We’re going to use nine megaton warheads in space and we’re not sure they’re large enough to be effective. Why would you even consider using kiloton-range surface-to-air warheads as back-up?” The answer was succinct. “Because they’re all we have.”
