Buttercups And Clover

Oh, for those days I left behind in buttercups and clover
When I frolicked, and I danced without a care,
Where wheat grew just beyond the play the summer sun hung over,
And sweet and calming stillness filled the air.

So, in my mind I wander back, through childish dreams and wishes
And run my bare feet deep into the grass.
I stretch out where the long blades whip; the dragonfly, it hisses,
As clouds against the blue go slowly past.

I walk my daughter now through days of dandelions and clover;
The scenery today is not the same.
As life gets weathered by the storms, its fields get weeded over,
And the air gets littered with the seeds of shame.

Tomorrow, maybe concrete fields will lie this side of dreaming
And children miss the clover I had known.
But hopefully, their memories then will still be worth the keeping,
To comfort longing hearts when they are grown.

Thank you for your reflection and foresight.
It is comforting to know that I am not alone
in the subtle anxt that grows in which the source of the worlds developments have no definable solutions. Seems humanity is becoming too much and too many to manage.
Thanks Vicky

The New Debtors' Prison by Paul Lonardo

While Debtors prisons no longer exist, many people continue to be persecuted for crimes related to poverty or inability to repay money owed to municipalities. This practice remains in an injustice that needs to be rectified.
