Soapbox Orator

“I” is here again and again (whenever you‘d like a little peace) – and, he’s full of it!

You’re a soapbox orator, (or a monkey flitting in the trees)
First you have me in laughing restraint mentally,
Then for you to leave, I’m praying on my knees
You’re a soapbox orator that “I” wish could find bypass
Highly entertaining, but a pain in the ass.

You’re a hurricane at a tea-party, a tempest of wise-cracks,
And a know-it-all smarty.
You’re a soapbox orator, full of silent run-on chat,
Nibbling on every crumb of thought,
You are an annoying little rat.

Get up – stand down –
You’re back up on your box,
If only my birds of feathered fancy had nests,
And there was a hiding-hole for this sly fox.
Always on the run, I am tired of your constant patter of feet
Trotting through the fields of my dreams –
You’re an expert full of on-going schemes.

“How to this…. How to that….”
You’re always at work, planning ahead of the clock
Then when the proper time comes (it’s time to get it done!)
You are no where around to remind me of what it was
“we” just so badly had to do

You’re a soapbox orator – everybody’s got one
And for those who notice, you really can’t be undone
“I” (whoever you are) thinks “you” are not capable of speaking quite true –
But, this is what “I” would like to do:
“I” would like “you” to shut-up! Get down from your box.
Do not get back on.
I see you’re a natural-born orator with a comment on every pass,
Hey “Soapbox Orator”, somebody right here would like to knock you on your wise-ass!
