To my childhood friend, and my ex-husband
who died way too soon
When we parted, I said good-bye,
How was I to know how it was going to be
You were the love of my youth
It could no longer be you and me
We drifted apart, I found someone new
And you also found a love that was true .
Three children we created together
How was I to know it would be this way?
I never thought in a million years
That forever you would go away
The children mourn for their Dad
And no way on earth could I say of this I was glad!
Others say, He was your ex, what difference did it make?
My ex, but a friend of my youth, how could I be happy that you died?
I hear your guitar playing in my head
My emotions torn apart, missing you was something I didn’t intend.
