For Valentine's Day

If once upon a daydream sweet

The two of us should ever meet

 

If given at least half a chance
 


Our hearts to meld in pure romance

 

If morning found me all alone

With only mem’ries left to own;

 

The sun would still shine from above

Were I the one whom once you loved.

There is a modesty about this, a wistful sense of appreciation..one can only hope the hypothetical 'you' in this would be worthy of such love.

A lovely, lyrical poem with nice cadence and provocative choice of wording, i.e. "If once upon a daydream sweet, The two of us should ever meet."

And there's something Shakespearian about, "If morning found me all alone, With only mem'ries left to own."
