How ironic it is that they should be "taking" us over When our ancestors stole this land from their ancestors And their ancestors stole this land from the natives-- The Pomo, Miwok, Chumash, Yokut, and all the other groups, From tribes like the Wappo and Wiyot, And enslaved them, "Christianized" them-- Took away their ways of life and the lives that went with it.
Then, the Mexican government let white settlers into this "golden" territory. They even gave land grants to some in the early days-- Yet, our government won't let Mexican settlers in-- Only a few may enter and buy land lawfully.

This always baffles me, too, how people can talk about immigrants invading the states when we are all immigrants unless we are from the native community. This same attitude was used when Italians, Irish, etc first came to this country, and I know my great-grandparents had to struggle when they came over from Italy. Thought-provoking piece.

I like :-). The majority of anti-asylumists tend to be highly hypocritical; sadly this isn't a problem confined to the USA, anti-immigration sentiment is high here in the UK as well.
