your auburn hair Aurora’s locks—
or the burning bush—
voice omniscient as the voice of God.
I never thought of you as mortal—
transient—
bound by the ebb and flow of time—
until now,
here in the winter of this room,
where the walls echo with the silence
of words unsaid.
