Springtime Snow

In memory of 17 years ago...

Lazily the flakes fall down
outside the window panes…
and my thoughts drift
like fallen snow
across the windswept land

to days of rain
and days of pain
so many years ago…

The memories float
into my mind
on anniversary’s morn…
So quietly, like cotton fluff,
they flutter all around.

The springtime flurries
twirl and swirl
much like my memories…

They ebb and flow
like spring-time snow--
the thoughts of time they slow…
sometimes fluffed with heaven’s tears
and sometimes arrows’ stings

but softly now,
they float--  they coat--
and breathe of angel’s wings…

leaving stillness in the air
and peace within my heart…
My thoughts of you will not dissolve
like springtime snow will do;
because, my boy,

I know our bond
transcends
beyond this veil…

My baby boy,
who once was born,
now lives in heaven again…
and I can smile and live on

with spring upon my heart.

Deeply moving, Cryssa. The loss of a child is totally unimaginable to me but I have such a picture of the ambivalence and softness of these memories and pain through your emotion-laden and very visual words. Anniversaries are contrary things because, although another year has elapsed, you're suddenly taken right back into the sharp remembrances of the sequence of events that lead up to and away from the event. Poignant but rich with acceptance, too. Bless you, xx
